Bhagavat Purana Canto 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11 available again

The Entries for Bhagavata Purana are the most downloaded and searched for on Grantha Mandir. We have noticed that the files for most of the cantos were not available for some time, probably due to some error in the recent conversion of the entire library from Balarama font to Unicode.

We have resolved these problems and are happy to announce that they are back again. In addition, a handful of other works are also back online.

We are happy to announce that you can read all files on Grantha Mandir without installing the Balaram font on your computer. Further, you can also read all the files on your mobile devices.
This is possible because we've upgraded all Word documents to the latest .docx format. Most importantly, they are now encoded in Unicode and no longer in Balaram. Previously, you needed to install the Balaram font first.

For digitalization of the ten commentaries on Bhagavata Purāṇa we've spent 5500 INR. This breaks down to 5000 INR salary and 500 INR cost for 3 months of mobile internet since we have started to use free optical character recognition (OCR) software from Google to accelerate our typing.

Hooray! A Resurrected Grantha Mandira!

Posted May 4th 2016 - 13:59 by Markus
It was offline for a long time. Now we're online again. What you see here is a resurrected copy of what vanished years ago. We'll tinker towards a new dawn as the summer flows towards the fall. The old system is yet to be tested for post-resurrection bugs, and some features may not work as expected. However, the core of it. ie. library browsing and downloading, should function as expected. Please follow us on Facebook for more news! Ityalam for today...

Hooray! An All New Grantha Mandira!

Posted May 29th 2007 - 15:23 by Markus
In the air since a small forever, the structures are finally materializing! The new and mighty Gaudiya Grantha Mandira — better than ever, improvements fabulous beyond description. Please explore to your heart's content, and be sure to get in touch with us with your feedback and generous help!

It all started one dark night in the mid-summer heat of Braj. The webmaster, drowned in life and negligent of the sacred duty, was punished by the gods with a toe that hurt like the sun was never to shine again. "Should this wretch meet his end with the first rays of the sun", he muttered and spent a moment in silence, "afterlife would certainly be gloom if no code were hacked and packed for the electronic temple of books."

mood :: satisfied Code born of pain, fury and fear of gods is clean and free of bugs we feel, yet members! — stay vigilant, lest some low-life gremlin enter and cause byte confusions again. Should something jump off the screen and bite a chunk off your precious nose, be warned that the staff proletariat would not be able to send you pain balm, bandages or financial aid. We do enjoy hearing a good story though, so keep reporting all those incidents.

The core library is fully active and available. The editors are working hard to bring the text meta-data up to date. Many other areas of the site are still being developed. To keep the work going and the Mandir growing, consider supporting our work!

Those new features, you can keep watching the changelog — available from the menu bar and the footer of every page — for the flow of substance into the site framework that now has come to life.
