Nimbarki text? · Posted by Jagat on June 29th 2005 - 19:31 +0200
The influence of the Bhagavata-purana on this text is strong. However, there is a possiblity that it was a late Nimbarki product, as "Kumara" is mentioned as the first amongst "bhaktacharyas" in Sutra 83.
Little is known about the history of this text, but I would venture to say that it's total absence from the bhakti theological literature of the 16th and 17th centuries is evidence enough of its lateness. I would speculate late 18th century. |
