Naini Lake, Nainital

Situated in the heart of the beautiful hill station Nainital of Uttarakhand, Naini Lake is a picturesque fresh water lake which is one of the major tourist attractions of Nainital. Surrounded by Naini Peak in the northwest, Tiffin Point in the southwest and snow-clad peaks in the north, Naini Lake offers breathtaking views especially during dawn and sunset. The most interesting thing about Naini Lake is the Kidney shape of this river. It is most famous for boating, picnics and evening walks which attract a large number of tourists and honeymoon couples along with the locals.

The Naini or Nainital Lake is a huge lake and divide itself into two regions, the north region of it is known as Mallital and the southern region is known as Tallital. This wonderful lake is bounded with seven peaks and those names are Ayarpata, Deopata, Handi Bandi, Cheena Peak, Alma, Laria Kanta, Sher Ka Danda. If you want to spend romantic and quality time with your family or wife somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of the city, then there can be no better place than this beautiful lake situated in the lap of Nainital. There are many legends associated with this lake which makes it even more interesting.

Best Time To Visit

Nainital is a hill station and sometimes its temperature gets into negative in winters. To visit Naini lake best time is from February to June because this time the climate is smooth. If you love show fall and like winter weather then November to January is also a good option.

How To Reach

Nainital is one of the prominent and popular designations in Uttrakhand which attracts lots of tourist every year so to reach here is quite easy. Nainital is a hill station so it doesn’t have access of flights. The nearest airport is Pantnagar at a distance of 65km from Naini Lake. The nearest railway head is Kathgodam which is just 35 km away. By road is also a good option and you can take direct bus from the most of the cities of north India.
