This is the much corrected 2.00 version. As I added the commentary (which has now been posted separately), I added many variant readings and made many corrections. It is rather sad that though several thousand downloads of this document were made, no one found the time to report mistakes, many of which were quite egregious. Worse yet, nobody noticed them! Anyway, I guarantee that this edition is much, much improved.

Jagat (2007-11-07)

A number of sources were used to establish this text. The first copy was taken from the Kavya-mala edition (Calcutta 1878). Lee Siegel has a transliterated edition in his Sacred and profane dimensions of love in Indian traditions as exemplified in the Gita-govinda of Jayadeva. (Delhi: Oxford University Press: 1990 (1978)). His readings were taken from the Nirnaya Sagara Edition (Bombay 1949) and the Kulkarni edition (Ahmedabad 1965). Alternate readings based on Siegel’s edition are marked ni-.

Other editions:
(ed.) Haridas Das. (Nabadwip: Haribol Kutir, 470 Gauräbda [= 1955])
(ed.) Bhaktivedanta Narayana (Mathura: Gaudiya Vedanta Publications, 2005).

In particular, the first of these two was used in making the 2.00 version. Some of the additional variant readings were found in the Haridas Das edition.
